Save Madibeng community interests

Madibeng’s people interests are at the heart of Save Madibeng

Save Madibeng committed to advancing residents’ interests inside and outside council.

14 February 2024

Over 5000 voters gave Save Madibeng a clear mandate to aggregate their interests and aspirations and to articulate them in the council chamber. Save Madibeng committed itself to ensure that the interests of the people are advanced inside the council and further outside the council. Save Madibeng believes the people are the cornerstone of modern democracy and it will never lose touch with the people to know what they seek. In Sonop, people want title deeds. In Letlhabile, residents want internal roads and modern infrastructure. In Damonsville, people want a high school. In Brits, business people and residents need proper services. Across Madibeng, communities require better services. Save Madibeng said its success will depend on its proximity to the people. The executive committee led by Convener Sydney Monnakgotla planned to meet with clusters to diagnose challenges, plan for the long term and strengthen wards as the cornerstone of the movement.

Community activists registered to contest wards and challenge poor service delivery.

11 March 2020

Save Madibeng registered community activists to challenge poor services, misuse of state resources and weak leadership in Madibeng Local Municipality. The movement said residents were tired of leaders who had no plans and were not independent thinkers. The people of Madibeng wanted effective, efficient, transparent and accountable local government. Save Madibeng said its councillors would act as the eyes, hands and ears of their wards; promote the interests of their areas; involve communities in municipal matters; advance the collective goals of community organisations; and help ensure municipal services are provided economically, efficiently, effectively, transparently and accountably.
